About Care Catering

We’re based in Surrey and we specialise exclusively in providing high quality food for children’s day nurseries.

We think children deserve great-tasting, nutritionally balanced food from the day they start at nursery to the day they leave. We work hard to ensure that children enjoy a bright, happy future, both in terms of their enjoyment of nutritious food and our own impact on the environment.

If you’re passionate about providing children with healthy, delicious food, you might just have found the perfect catering company for your nursery’s lunches and teas.

Our staff love their work. So much so, in fact, that all four of our original team members who started with us when we first opened in 2005 are still with us today. We work hard to keep our staff happy and to ensure that they’re constantly developing their skills. After all, we believe that a happy team makes the best food.

Our menus are complex and labour intensive, meaning that we work really, really hard to provide healthy food that the children enjoy, and that we can be proud of. We know that in catering there are many shortcuts we could theoretically take. We could reduce the number of man hours, reduce our costs and reduce the quality of the ingredients we use.

But we don’t. We think that children deserve better.

And we hope you do too.

Our food

We’re passionate about providing children with healthy, delicious food that’s good for them, good for nurseries, good for parents and good for the environment.  

Here are just a few of the things we do to achieve this.

  • We source all our food locally, wherever possible.
  • We use free range eggs.
  • We make all our soups and sauces ourselves from scratch, using real ingredients.
  • We never use salt in the food we make for children under the age of one, and over the age of one we never include more than 50% of the Recommended Daily Allowance.
  • We recycle our waste – this helps to ensure that children have a bright, happy future to look forward to.
  • We always make our food with the nutritional requirements of children in mind.
  • We make all our baby food from scratch. We never use baby food from jars.
  • With the exception of bread, ice cream and some of our specialist diets, our food is completely E-number and additive free.
  • We collect/deliver lunches in the most environmentally friendly order possible so as to reduce pollution and reduce our carbon footprint.
  • We are an acredited company, meaning we are held to the highest standards with regards to the food higiene.
  • Our food is cooked to order.
  • Menus inspected and approved by child nutrition specialist Nicky Dexter
  • We never, ever use mechanically recovered meats, reformed meats, offal or fried food.

Going the extra mile

We’re also keen to go the extra mile, to really deliver a service that exceeds your expectations. That’s why:

  • We offer a four week menu cycle with seasonal variations.
  • We cater to individual requirements, offering parental choice.
  • We take allergy requirements very seriously.
  • We use fresh organic cream in our custard.
  • If a child has special food requirements, we try to make their food look as much like the other children’s food as possible so that they don’t feel left out.
  • We supply generous portions, based on a trusting relationship with our customers.
  • We train our staff not just in catering but specifically in catering for children and the unique skills that catering to the under-fives demands.
  • We take late bookings and do all we can to maximise your sales. We know how important it is for you to be able to say to your parents "yes, we can do that" rather than "I'm sorry, the catering company won't do that".
